CNPS 2009
Conservation Conference: Strategies and
Solutions
With all our hearts, we want to thank the more than
850 of you who contributed tomaking the CNPS
2009 Conservation Conference a monumental success!
- We had over 100 hard-working volunteers, 200
superlative presenters, 130 outstanding posters, and
850 enthusiastic attendees from 16 states and 3
foreign countries!
- We had our senses stimulated by botanical art,
photographs, poetry, and film.
- Our keynote speakers challenged and inspired us to
take the next steps
- And best of all, we got to spend 3-5 days with all
of you - many of whom we had not seen for years!
We feel re-energized and we hope you do as well. The
Conference has generated new momentum for plant
conservation in California. Let’s put all of the energy
and knowledge we received into action now!
This is what some people said about the 2009
Conference:
“The camaraderie and spirit of just
about everyone was quite refreshing and fulfilling, a
reflection of the common purpose of those attending
and demonstrative of the need for all of us to convene
more often - this conference fed my heart and my soul.
I am extremely grateful to the numerous organizers and
supporters for making this event a memorable and
fulfilling occasion.”
“I was able to connect
with many professionals and received welcome advice
about my potential future career in conservation,
ecology, and the need for such
professionals.”
“Great session speakers and
poster presentations - really excellent breadth,
depth, and quality of content over the three
days.”
“I appreciated the diversity of topics
that were available so that people were able to attend
discussions that were applicable to their particular
geographic area, management issues, etc. I greatly
appreciated the research oriented discussions that had
new scientific findings. It complimented well with the
on-the-ground experiments that others were
accomplishing. It was wonderful have presenters from
such a wide variety of agencies, disciplines,
etc.”
“(I) thought it was a fantastic mix of
academics and professionals from agencies,
non-profits, all arenas. Very
impressed.” |
